My name is Akilah and I am thrilled to be back with my Union Three family to participate in this year's "Ride. Restore. Refresh" for the Children’s Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. This event has always been one of my favorites ever since I first joined U3 and to see the team bring it back with CCC makes my heart so happy- I had to sign up again! A little backstory about the Children’s Cancer Center: they are a non-profit organization in Tampa, FL who’s mission is to serve families of children who are battling cancer or chronic blood disorders with emotional, financial, and educational support necessary to cope with their life-threatening illness. From the COVID-19 pandemic to everyday life, CCC have always remained committed to their mission through providing resources and programs to children with cancer, survivors and their families. This will be my THIRD year participating in this event, it includes 30 minutes of cycle + 30 minutes of restorative yoga (taught by amazing Union Three instructors) and 30 minutes of refreshments and socializing with fellow participants, sponsors and all the kiddos from the center. 100% of proceeds raised will go straight to the CCC to continue their amazing work. In the last couple years, they were able to raise over $100,000(!!) and I am pumped to help them run it back this year with an even bigger squad and bigger goals! If you’ve know me, you know that Union Three and everything about it has changed my life forever. I gained so much more than a fitness routine; I got a second home, a community and a sense of wholeness I never had before. Even when I moved away, with every visit at the studio, I was always met with so much enthusiasm and love like I never left. I have watched this studio grow from the underground (wink wink) up and it truly gives me the greatest honor to continue supporting them in this amazing cause, right before our family moves back to Tampa in May 🤍 Any amount helps and will truly make a difference!
